"How my brother Leon brought home a wife" is a short story, this story is written by manuel E. Arguilla. He was an ilokano writer in English, patriot, and martyr. He was born on June 17, 1911 at bauang and Died on August 30, 1944 in manila. 

This short story revolves on Baldo's observation about his older brother's new wife named Maria. Maria is a city girl while Leon lines in the countryside. So as Maria arrived at their place. Baldo was struck by the beauty of Maria He observed everything about Maria. Maria was worried about how will sge adopt the lifestyle in a rural community so that Leon's parents will accept her. Baldo and his parents observe Leon's new wife on how she will handle herself in adapting the traditional life in their place. But despite the challenges that Maria encountered when she arrived in the countryside, Maria adopts quickly and shows that she appreciates everything and she can live in a rural environment with them. 

The story shows that despite the difference of their culture and lifestyle, it will not be a hindrance if you really love each other you are willing to adopt or learn about each other's lifestyle and tradition.
