OVERCOMING GIANTS By: Ehron James N. Andong
I am Ehron James N. Andong I'm 18 years old, I was born on October 24, 2006 I am currently studying at Emiliano P. Baquial National High School, and my hobby is playing basketball. I have a sister and a brother. My mother's name is Lovelyn Andong, and my father's name is EJ Enecito. I am currently staying at my grandparents house. My grandfather's name is Rodelin V. Andong and my grandmother's name Nida N. Andong.
I am currently a senior high school student at Emiliano P. Baquial National High School and the strand I'm taking is humanities and social sciences I am taking this strand because I know that this strand will help me in my college journey. When I was a child I loved to play basketball with my friends. During my Elementary days it was hard because my mother is in the other country working and I didn't experience the feeling of having a mother on my side especially when I graduated from Bololmala Elementary School, even though she is not on my side, my mom still supports me on everything
My father is not supporting me anymore because she has a new family, but we are still seeing each other. Despite those challenges I have my lolo and lola on my side supporting me and helping and taking care of me since then. Moving to high school life, during grade 7, there is no exciting on this time because of the virus spreading all over the world. But during the pandemic, I've experienced working for myself, because at that time that students were not able to go to school because of the COVID-19 virus. So I decided to go to Sarangani, to be a worker for a while. I stayed there for three months, I am staying at my uncle's house and we worked together. Those times were also quite difficult because I was far away from my parents and my friends, but I don't have a choice because my mother was no longer ofw in that time, she also went home because of the covid-19 that was spreading throughout the world, so, I don't have a choice but to work for myself so that my parents will have less trouble supporting me. and let's go straight to the time when I was in grade 9 here at Emiliano P. Baquial National High School, this time the weather is pretty okay, there are few cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we still have to wear a facemask to be sure our safety. When I go to school, my grandfather drives me to school, and when I go home, I just walk. I stay in brgy. Bololmala and our school is in brgy. Crossing rubber. And when I was in grade 10, these times were a bit sad because my mom died, due to breast cancer. I felt a lot of sadness during those times, and I felt sorry for my brother who was only one year old at that time.
But no matter how difficult it was to face those problems, I was able to overcome and just accept the reality. And I finished grade 10 with honor and I received a medal. and here I am now in Grade 12 who continues to dream of finishing school for my grand parents to repay their sacrifices to me because I know, I owed them my life.
